Pear and Berry Crumble

Ingredients (makes 6-8 servings)

  • 150g wholemeal flour
  • 80g soft brown sugar
  • 100g soft unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp flaked almonds (optional)
  • 100g oats
  • For the filling
  • 4 ripe pears, peeled cored and chopped
  • 400g berries
  • 2 tsp of cinnamon
  • A pinch of nutmeg

 

Preheat the oven to 190 C/Gas 5 and grease a baking tin. Place the flour, oats, sugar and almonds (if using) in a large bowl and mix well. Chop the butter in little cubes and rub into the flour mixture. Keep rubbing until the mixture looks like bread crumbs. Spread the fruit across the bottom of the oven dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon and crumble mixture on top. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until the crumble is browned and the fruit mixture bubbling.
